Description

This is a virus detection. Viruses are programs that self-replicate recursively, meaning that infected systems spread the virus to other systems, which then propagate the virus further. While many viruses contain a destructive payload, it's quite common for viruses to do nothing more than spread from one system to another.

This virus was first reported as in the field in September 1999.

W97M/Idea.A infects Word 97 documents. It is not able to replicate under the SR-1 release of Word 97. Upgrading to the SR-1 release of Word 97 or later will stop it from spreading. This virus consists of a module called FuckViruZ. This macro virus will infect Word's NORMAL.DOT file.

This virus has no damaging payload. It replicates when AutoExit, AutoOpen or AutoClose is called. In addition, this virus creates the file C:\FUCKVIRUZ.SYS. This file contains the source code to the virus.

On the 13th day of any month, a message box is displayed.

 

Clicking on OK allows the user to continue.

Use current engine and DAT files for detection and removal.

PE,Trojan,Internet Worm and memory resident :
Use specified engine and DAT files for detection. To remove, boot to MS-DOS mode or use a boot diskette and use the command line scanner:

SCANPM /ADL /CLEAN /ALL
