Description

This is a Trojan detection. Unlike viruses, Trojans do not self-replicate. They are spread manually, often under the premise that they are beneficial or wanted. The most common installation methods involve system or security exploitation, and unsuspecting users manually executing unknown programs. Distribution channels include email, malicious or hacked web pages, Internet Relay Chat (IRC), peer-to-peer networks, etc.

Medfos.ak is detection for the Trojan that may redirect the web browser to other websites.

Medfos.ak
malicious extension that redirects search queries when you search online using AOL, Ask, Bing, Google or Yahoo.

Medfos.ak
typically installed by variants of Medfos family and it usually installed as a Google Chrome browser extension called "ChromeUpdateManager 1.0". The installed malicious extensions redirect the search engine results.
