Description

This is a virus detection. Viruses are programs that self-replicate recursively, meaning that infected systems spread the virus to other systems, which then propagate the virus further. While many viruses contain a destructive payload, it's quite common for viruses to do nothing more than spread from one system to another.

Indication of Infection

On an infected system the virus emulates the TOOLS|MACRO functionality. Warning: It is important not to use this command, as you will execute the viral code while doing so.

The virus maintains a Win.INI entry: DOSVIRUS|INSTALLED = to determine the first infection.

When pressing SPACE on April 13th it will insert the text:

Schon mal im blasen Mondlicht mit dem Teufel getanzt?

The Magnum Virus! .. in a new document.

On the first infection it will drop an executable file HTC.COM in C:\ , which contains a n overwriting DOS virus; executed after reboot. This is a 6984 bytes long packed dropper of HLL.ow.11056 virus.
