Description
This is a virus detection. Viruses are programs that self-replicate recursively, meaning that infected systems spread the virus to other systems, which then propagate the virus further. While many viruses contain a destructive payload, it's quite common for viruses to do nothing more than spread from one system to another.
Indication of Infection
This virus triggers on the 31st of August. On this date any documents opened on an infected system will display the message:
A CURSE FROM BLACKROSE TO SOMEONE HE HATES
"HIJADIPUTA KANG HAYUP KA!
BURAY MO, SAKA BURAY NI INA MO! HAYUP KA!
SAYANG KA, HAYUP KA!
HAYUP KA TALAGA!"
WORD97/BLACKCURSE VIRGOBLACKROSE Virus Development Libmanan Camarines Sur
In addition, access to the original data in the document is denied. Also, in the document properties the Title is set to "BLACKCURSE" and the Author to "BLACKROSE"
Methods of Infection
When an infected file is opened the virus places itself in the global template (normal.dot). Once the global template is infected, all documents subsequently opened on the system will become infected.
