Description

This is a virus detection. Viruses are programs that self-replicate recursively, meaning that infected systems spread the virus to other systems, which then propagate the virus further. While many viruses contain a destructive payload, it's quite common for viruses to do nothing more than spread from one system to another.

Indication of Infection

On an infected system the virus hides the FILE|TEMPLATE, TOOLS|MACRO, FORMAT|STYLES, and VIEWTOOLBARS functionality. Warning: It is important not to use these commands, as you could execute the viral code.

When opening an infected file on an uninfected system or opening/or [saving as] an uninfected file on an infected system on November 1st the following occurs.

The virus will show the text

'Welcome to Victor Widjaja 'WordMacro' Virus - Programmed & Created by Victor Widjaja the HACKER - Virus Research Labolatory'

in the Status Bar of Word.

A message box like:

- Attention X

Victor Widjaja lives in your PC Now

OK

is displayed.

There is then a [1]-in-[30] chance virus then attempts to format the user's C drive.

When using the print command the following will occur.

The virus will delete all text in the current open document and will insert the text

'Welcome to Victor Widjaja Virus Your computer has been totally infected by Victor Widja ja WordMacro Virus Don't go anywhere!!! I'll be back soon to DESTROY your disk data!! Copywrite ( 1996 Virus Research Labs'

After the File Print dialog appears and the user closes it, the virus will show the text

'Welcome to Victor Widjaja 'WordMacro' Virus - Programmed & Created by Victor Widjaja the HACKER - Virus Research Labolatory'

in the Status Bar of Word.
