McAfee is also her choice to guard confidential client information
Lori Hoffman is like many PC users these days: Her home system runs personal applications but, increasingly, it also contains confidential business information that requires protection from probing eyes.
Hoffman, a married 36-year-old stay-at-home mom in Tampa, Florida, works part time from home in the insurance field. She’s been a happy McAfee® customer since she installed its anti-virus software on her first home computer, and the protection the software provides has always stood up to new and emerging security threats over the years.
“I primarily use my home computer for work now,” Lori explained. “I can log onto my company’s system remotely and do everything I need to do. Secondarily, we use our PC for email and the Internet. We try to shop online and complete daily chores online rather than drive from one destination to another with our baby. We even reserve books at the library online, then go through the drive-through to pick them up.”
Choosing McAfee over competitors’ products was an easy decision for Lori and her husband. “I use McAfee both at home and at work. It all started when we got a new home computer and the McAfee protection software came bundled in it. Also, my brother, who is a computer programmer for a large bank, highly recommended it, too.”
Since Lori and her family do so much personal and work-related business on the computer, she’s very concerned about security. She works with highly confidential information in the insurance business, so she’s just as concerned about protecting her clients’ information as she is about protecting her own and her families’.
“My main concerns are identity theft and the chance of losing vital information due to a virus or worm,” she said. McAfee’s identity protection and data backup features are therefore very important to her.
“McAfee gives me bulletproof protection against hackers, phishers, Trojans, and spyware, so I know my clients’ personal information will remain on my computer and my computer alone,” she said. “Also, if I were to lose any files, the data backup feature would restore them in a flash. I can set it to automatically create archives of my files on a CD/DVD, external hard drive, or networked drive. It doesn’t get much better than that!”
“I’m also aware of the huge increase in spam over the past few years, and how it can paralyze a person’s email if they don’t have a reliable product like McAfee to block it. It comes with the McAfee Security Center, and filters out the spam, protecting my email and instant messages from threats like viruses and spyware.” Lori most appreciates how easy McAfee is to use. “Anyone can use it, and the automatic updates and scans are great!”
Although their daughter is not yet old enough to use the computer, Lori and her husband know that time will quickly come. “My main concern for the future of home computing is security. I’m sure that’s true with most parents out there,” Lori admitted. “I like that McAfee offers very thorough parental controls, which I can customize to my needs. Keyword scanning and image analysis are also tools that will help me keep her safe online when the time comes.”
Does Lori recommend McAfee? “Absolutely,” she exclaimed. “Keeping our information and family safe when we use the Internet will only get more and more complicated as time goes on. McAfee has done a great job so far, and continues to lead the field when it comes to identifying and abolishing new threats.”
“I feel confident that we’ll be able to rely on McAfee for many years to come,” she said.
