NAI Labs AVERT would like to inform you of a new email HOAX.

This email message is just a HOAX.

We are advising users who receive the email to delete it and DO NOT pass it on as this is how an email HOAX propagates.

Below is the actual text from this email hoax message that may be received via email.

This is an official warning from Intel Corporation!

If you receive a mail with the subject: Special Offer!

This mail contains a PLAIN TEXT VIRUS called PII-Degrade. 
Nickname: Slow Boat 24

This virus will degrade the performance of a standard Pentium II processor
with 50% every 24 hours. This means that  3-7 days after infection your
computer will not start.

Once the the virus has attached itself to your Bios it can not be removed.
There is no anti virus program today, that can disinfect and clean a
computer with this virus. Intel are working on a Bios upgrade utility
program that will be able to deal with this.

Please take this warning serious and forward it everyone that you know to
prevent further spread of this highly dangerous virus.
